VI edition of Carpet Festival at Gaidar

Last Sunday the 18th August took place the VI edition of Carpet Festival (Фестиваль ковров «Gagauz kilimneri») in the village of Gaidar, at Ceadîr Lunga region, perhaps one of the most beautiful and traditional holidays that are celebrated in Gagauzia.

More than 150 carpets were brought to the event, showing locals and tourist this ancient tradition -some of them were truly relics- and even teaching them how people used to do it!

The atmosphere at the festival tele-transported the guests to centuries ago. People had the opportunity to enjoy traditional music and dances, taste delicious dishes, get impressed by the colourful folk costumes with marvellous ornaments and get delighted by the hospitality of the Gaidars’ inhabitants.

Miras-Moldova works to raise awareness of the Gagauzian culture, encourage social integration of ethnic minorities into Moldovan society and to save the cultural heritage of the Moldovan population.

Miras-Moldova also supports families of disabled youth from surrounding communities. Volunteers from the public administration work with individuals with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, mental and learning disabilities.
