Congaz Fest Day

Summer is already here and some of our Gagauz villages celebrate their festivity days. On the 17th June, the same day as the Trinity Day, was the village of Congaz where the celebration took place.

In the main square, in front of Primaria, people could enjoy different activities that the local government planned for its inhabitants. Regional dances, traditional music, bouncy castles for the kids or a small flea market were some of the activities that people could enjoy.

At the small flea market, people could find some traditional hand-crafts. This ornaments were made by different Gagauz artist promoted by the NGO called "Popular Masters of Gagauzia" ("Ассоциация Народных Мастеров Гагаузии", in Russian).

Nikolai Kroytor, the director of the NGO, explained to Miras Moldova that the aim of Popular Masters of Gagauzia is to teach joung people how to do traditional Gagauz ornaments and to promote Gagauz hand-crafts around the world. The assoaciation is composed by 72 people, and some of the countries that they have been invited to show its colections are Ireland, Poland or Bulgaria.


Miras-Moldova works to raise awareness of the Gagauzian culture, encourage social integration of ethnic minorities into Moldovan society and to save the cultural heritage of the Moldovan population.


Miras-Moldova also supports families of disabled youth from surrounding communities. Volunteers from the public administration work with individuals with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, mental and learning disabilities.
