The Gagauz Liquidators of Chernobyl

On 26 March 1986, the 4th reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear plant exploited and the radiation moved away. In this crisis situation the authorities of the Soviet Union ordered thousands of people (soldiers, firemen, doctors, nurses…) to help in the tasks of cleaning the contaminated area and to take care of sufferers. They were called the liquidators of Chernobyl.

103 people from Gagauzia which was part of the Soviet Union were ordered to go to Chernobyl and Pripyat, mostly soldiers. 30 years later, Miras Moldova has gone with the Gagauz liquidators to the Chisinau march for the 30th anniversary of the catastrophe.

Check the video to know who are they, what they did, what they want.
