Maslenitsa, the beginning of an early spring

The end of winter brings with it the Maslenitsa, a Slavic tradition celebrated just before the beginning of Lent in the Orthodox Church. On this day the early spring accompanied the whole day and made the feast very well attended.

This festivity was celebrated inside and outside the house of culture in Kirsovo. During several hours the assistants to this event could taste the local gastronomic wealth and the great wine cultivated in Gagauzia.

The day was livened up with traditional music by great artists and emerging talents of Gagauzia while the assistants danced around the figure of the Maslenitsa.

After tasting the delicious desserts it was time for games, both for children and adults, where laughter erupted throughout the square.

The event ended with the burning of the figure of the Maslenitsa, called “Chyuchilo” and the subsequent concert held in the house of culture in Kirsovo.
